Numbers don't matter

A friend and I were discussing the images we are constantly bombarded with of perfect women with perfect skin and in perfect shape. Women get so upset when they go to a clothing store and the size they normally wear dosn't fit. Well, FYI not all clothing manufacturers size their garments the same. One manufacturers size 10 may be anothers size 12. Something to think about before you become so depressed that you're ready to throw yourself under a bus! How about after killing yourself working out, you step on the scale only to find you've barly lost anything. You may look better and you may feel better, but that dosn't matter because all you can focus on is the number. We forget that when we excerise we build muscle which can add weight. Muscle is good! I have a difficult time watching a 25 year old advertise how beautiful, firm and wrinkle free her skin is because she uses a particular beauty cream. Gimme a break you're 25! Show me a 50+ woman using that cream and I might be convinced. I have to say though, that I LOVE the new Dove Self Esteem Campaign designed to show young girls how beautiful and special all women are. The ads show women of all ages from all walks of life happy in the skin they're in. It's a beautiful thing. I've decided I'd like to be in that ad. Well anyway, the point is take care of yourself so you feel good and don't look at the number. The number means nothing. Just like age. If I wake up, know who I am, know where I am, can dress myself and recognize my husband it's a great day!

Sex & The Teenage Boy

Now that my kids are grown I'm somewhat out of the loop regarding what's going on in Middle and High School until someone brings it to my attention. I understand that girls as young as middle schoolers are performing oral sex on boys in between classes and during lunch. Someone needs to talk to these girls in a way that's honest open and true. They need to understand that a boys "job" at that age is to have some kind of sex. And yes, "oral" is sex which is why it's called oral sex! While you can't get pregnant you can still get diseases. Boys will say all kinds of things like "I love you", "Everyone else does it", "It's not a big deal", "You'll still be a virgin", and my favorite "If you don't do it, it means you don't love me and I'll find someone else who will"! Boys have been feeding girls this load of crap since before Noah built the Ark. They will manipulate and lie because their tiny little brains are in their pants. Now lets look at who gets what. He gets "sex", he gets to be a "God" amongst his peers and he shares all the details with everyone he knows. What do you get? You get the honor of being chosen to be his girlfriend. Woo Hoo! I knew I couldn't be around my girls 24/7 and that I needed to trust them to make good choices. I instilled in them that they should be leaders not followers and to never let anyone pressure them into anything. They call the shots. We need to make sure our girls grow up with the self esteem and confidence to choose what's right for them, and when some boy says "If you love me you will", hand them a bar of soap and say "Here, Love yourself"!

Parenting

Not everyone is cut out to be a parent. The idea is to recognize that fact. Some know without a doubt that they don't want kids and they don't have them. I applaud thee for thine insight. Some have children out of a feeling of obligation because their family and friends pressure them. To them I say "Get a backbone, embrace that inner voice telling you no, it's OK!" Having kids is a huge responsibility. The health, education, care, nuturing, and well being of another human being is now in your hands, FOREVER! Your kids don't need to be out for dinner at 10:00 at night. They need consistancy and rules. They need a set dinner time, they need a set bedtime. Why do you think their screaming and cranky? Stop dragging them all over God's creation at all hours. Especially in Miami I hear things like it's cultural. Cultural my ass!. Children are children and they need parents who put their interest and well being first. Stop being so selfish!

Driving in Miami

OK, so where do I begin. When I, like thousands of others, leave the house at the crack of dawn, I do so because I have to get to work. I'm not just tooling around the neighborhood picking my nose. I sometimes find it difficult to arrive at my destination without wanting to slit my wrists after dealing with the countless morons I inevitably encounter. We've all been behind women doing their hair and makeup, men shaving etc., but I recently pulled up next to a woman plucking her chin hairs with a tweezer. Can you believe it. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want the whole world to know I have chin hair, let alone pluck them in public. My request is this. Read your newspaper at home, put your makeup on at home or work, if you can't talk on the phone and drive at the same time then don't do it, keep up with traffic, use your directionals (I don't drive with a crystal ball), red lights mean stop. If you have no place to be by a particular time, please stay the hell off the road during rush hour. I could go on and on but I'll address my other driving pet peeves at a later time.

Are You Kidding Me?

Apparently PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wanted to run a Super Bowl ad but it was rejected for content. If you haven't seen the ad it shows barely dressed women demonstrating their "fondness and passion" for vegetables by licking, suggestively rubbing themselves with and caressing the veggies. While I too believe that it's every individual's right to use vegetables as a source of pleasure, if that's your thing, but shouldn't that be between you and your broccoli? Although it does escape me how they think playing with your food benefits you nutritionally. As far as I know you have to actually consume it for it to be beneficial to your health. PETA dosn't understand why they'll allow ads for unhealthy foods like fried chicken and burgers but not the veggies. Well PETA perhaps I can answer that. BECAUSE IN THOSE OTHER COMMERCIALS WOMEN ARE NOT SHOWN STRIPPING DOWN AT THE END OF THE WORKDAY AND RUBBING THEMSELVES WITH FRIED CHICKEN AND BURGERS!!!! Gimme a friggin break!

Not sure what I'm doing !

This is my first attempt at setting up a blog and I must say it makes me feel technologically challanged. I am teachable though, so I have high hopes. I believe it will be "Fabulous!"
